Welcome! Again on Sunday we welcome Nunu Zhang as our guest musician. Nunu is a pianist and music educator in London. She is a graduate of the music program at Western. She is providing music for the 10 am service today while our music director, Christina Willatt, is on vacation.
Outreach
In August we concentrate on the St. Paul’s food bank, and our own breakfast program. As back to school gets closer, it’s time to think about backpacks and school supplies. See Cindy Warner for full details of backpack and school supply needs.
Our next Paul’s Place food bank Sunday is this Sunday, 9th August. Donations were still down in July, so can we make a better effort for August, when it’s harvest time for many things?
162 breakfasts were served this past Saturday. Donations of clothing, footwear toilet paper and toiletries really appreciated by those we serve. Thank you for the ongoing support of this vital ministry.
Back to School Backpack Drive – Cindy Warner is coordinating our annual Backpack Drive this year. If you would like to donate items to this project that benefits elementary school students in need in our community, please speak to Cindy. If you would like to donate money, indicate this on an envelope put in the offering plate or dropped off to the office. Last year we filled almost thirty packs! Let’s do more this year! Donation deadline: August 30th. See poster in narthex for supplies needed.
Fundraising and Social
1) Hold this Date! Please join us for a fun game or two of mini-putt on September 19th , 3:45pm at Tin Cup, on Adelaide St. a short distance from the church. There was a very good turnout of enthusiastic putters last year. This is an all ages event. Please invite your friends. There will be a casual dinner at the church immediately after we finish playing. Cost to play is $14.99 + tax for one or two games (18 holes each). Putters and balls will be provided. Suggested contribution to the cost of the meal will be provided closer to the event. We will likely have pizza again this year. 2) Pig Roast 2026, on Saturday September 26th, 6pm, Tickets are $25.00, which includes roasted potatoes, coleslaw and homemade pie. Further details on the poster in the Narthex.
3) Saturday October 17th, 7 PM. St. Jude's Coffee House will make its long awaited return with a revamped format featuring music from the very talented and well loved former parishioner Brian Taylor. The night will also showcase musical contributions from St. Jude's members and friends. Tickets and more information will be available in September! For now, save the date for this popular event! If you have never been, ask around or talk to Peter King or Chris Chalmers for more info about this fun evening!
Rally Sunday – September 13th – After the 10:00 am service stay for hotdogs and corn-on-the-cob. You bring the salad (potluck style). Enjoy this opportunity to learn about what happens and St. Jude’s and offer your services to help!
You are invited to a Parish Council Open House – On Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00pm, you are invited to an open meeting of St. Jude’s Parish Council in the narthex. Refreshments will be served. You are welcome to stay for all or part of the meeting, which normally ends at 8:30pm

The series is informed by a thought from the British Anglican academic, Luke Bretherton: Christianity is not merely about believing certain things; it is about becoming a certain kind of person within a certain kind of people. Bretherton asks, “Will we allow ourselves to be re-formed by a vision of humanity grounded in communion, shared responsibility and care?”
Education for Ministry (EfM) Open House – EfM is a small group experience focussed on how faith connects and is lived in everyday life. One of EfM’s face-t0-face mentoring groups meets at St. Jude’s on Tuesday mornings. Interested in learning more? Attend the upcoming virtual Open House on August 26th. The Pilgrim Course – Last year, a group of 14-18 people participated in the “Follow” stage of The Pilgrim Course. This autumn, we will start into the “Grow” stage, with four six-session courses led by Father Kevin on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm, that explore the Creeds (starting Oct 6th – in person), the Eucharist (starting Nov 17 – online), and then two courses in the new year, the first will be online and the second in person. Make your spiritual health a priority! Sign-up sheets for the Creeds course will be available soon.
The Heart Sees Further – Each Wednesday, Father Kevin offers a brief spiritual reflection viewable on St. Jude’s Facebook page. The current series is called “An Introduction the Devout Life” based on a book by St. Francis de Sales. As you view each reflection, please hit “like” and “share.”
