Readings for Sunday 4th October, Trinity 19
Psalm 19
Reading: Exodus 20.1-4,12-20
Gospel: Matthew 21.33-45
Psalm response: “The commandment of God is clear and gives light to the eyes”
Sunday’s Message – Sunday’s sermon is the fourth in a six-week series called Learning to Live Free: Six Stories from the Wilderness, based on passages from Exodus designated by the Revised Common Lectionary. Today, as we hear the Ten Commandments, we’re invited to ask, “Is a person moral simply by abiding by these commandments, or is there more to it than this?”

Learning Together
October 4th! Anglican by Design (or Accident) – Come to a one-hour introduction to Anglicanism led by Father Kevin after the 10:00 am service today in the Cracknell Room. This session may be helpful to lifelong Anglicans and even those surprised to have been embraced by its curious traditions. Learn about Anglican history, governance and practices. Bring questions!
The Pilgrim Course –Sign up for the upcoming six-session Pilgrim Course - “The Creeds” – led by Father Kevin, starting this Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 pm in the St. Alban’s Room. On November 17th we will start the next course, about the Eucharist, online.
Legacy Evening – Everyone is invited to a Legacy Evening on October 29th at 7:00 pm. We will enjoy refreshments, unveil a piece of art from the estate of Myfanwy Matthews, hear vocal music from our choir, and welcome Michelle Hauser from the Anglican Foundation who will talk about planned giving.
NEW! Weekly Stewardship Thought – “Assets for Ministry and Mission” – Generosity creates assets for ministry and mission. Some assets are financial, but many are not: people who teach, sing, serve, visit, welcome, pray, repair, lead, or simply notice what needs doing. When these gifts are put to work, the gospel is proclaimed and people grow as disciples. And so, the virtuous cycle continues: deeper discipleship leads to more generosity; more generosity provides more assets for ministry and mission; and ministry and mission deepen discipleship yet further.
Let's Celebrate
