Outreach for June
In June, it’s the men’s turn!
Men’s Mission: providing emergency shelter for an individual or family, or caring for those with mental health needs Mission Services of London is there with a message of hope through faith serving those who struggle with poverty and homelessness. They provide food, shelter, clothing, crisis intervention and rehabilitation. Needs: gloves, toiletries, razors, underwear, wallets.
Unity Project: working to stabilize people in their moment of crisis and to engage them in their own process toward stability while utilizing all available community resources. Housing (with supports) is the solution to homelessness and we will continue to develop our program around this outcome for participants. Needs: socks, bus tickets, t-shirts,small backpacks, razors, underwear, coffee mugs.
Also in June: Strawberries for St. Jude’s Breakfast. Financial donations will be appreciated to provide fresh strawberries for the community breakfast closest to Canada Day, 20th June.
Community Breakfast:
We are looking for a few able bodied volunteers to set up the tables and chairs for the Saturday breakfast program. The time commitment is a couple of hours on the 1st and 3rd Friday morning of each month. Please connect with the office at 519-660-6198 if you can help. Thank you!

St. Paul's Foodbank
Our next Paul’s Place food bank Sunday is Sunday, 14th June.
ACW (Anglican Church Women) June lunch - all the women of St. Jude’s are invited to our pre-summer potluck lunch on Wednesday June 10th. We’ll gather at 12.00 noon and eat around 12.30 pm. The Fund Raising Social Committee has two events in June that we would like to get out to the parish and beyond.
1) Saturday June 13th is our Yard Sale , 8 am to 11 am.
2) This year’s Church Picnic is on Sunday June 28th, after the 10:00 service. Hosted in All Saints Hall, Burgers and Hot Dogs supplied ,and potluck salads and desserts. Free will offering.
2026 Yard Sale. The 2026 Yard Sale will be on Saturday June 13th, 8 am - noon. Contact the office to reserve a table. As in other years it will be a 50/50 profit split.
Crazy Eights!– Today’s sermon is the first of a periodic set of messages Father Kevin is offering on three Sundays in June and July. Today’s message is called “Go and Learn What This Means: ‘I desire mercy’.” These Crazy Eight sermons are concise messages, each approximately eight minutes in length. Worship will continue at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. until September.
The Heart Sees Further – Each Wednesday, Father Kevin offers a brief spiritual reflection on St. Jude’s Facebook page. The current series is called The Interior Castle, based on a piece of classic, devotional writing by St. Teresa of Ávila. As you view each reflection, please hit “like” and “share.”
Education for Ministry (EfM) Open House – EfM is a small group experience focussed on how faith connects and is lived in everyday life. One of EfM’s face-t0-face mentoring groups meets at St. Jude’s on Tuesday mornings. Interested in learning more? Attend one of the upcoming Open Houses: June 10th at 7:00 pm (in person, at St. Anne’s Church in Byron), or August 26th (virtual). Exploring the Epistle to the Ephesians – St. John the Evangelist (where Bill Ward is now the rector), has invited St. Jude’s to join an online study of Ephesians on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00 pm, throughout the summer. These sessions will be facilitated by Tom Mawlam who is the licensed lay reader at St. John’s. We welcome Tom to St. Jude’s today at 10:00 am.
Living the Gift – Stewardship in Word and Practice – On Sat, June 13th, St. Jude’s will be the location for a diocesan workshop on holistic stewardship. The facilitator will be Davey Gerhart, Executive Director of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS). Plan to attend! Register through the poster’s QR code on the bulletin board in the narthex. Father Kevin will be grateful for your support on a local arrangements team for this event, also for the diocesan clergy day that will precede it on Friday, June 12th.
